Vanguard – “The Elle”

Originally built in 1963 and formerly home to the Peace Corps, the 185,000 sf Vanguard office building was renovated for WILLCO Development into a 163-unit apartment complex with 12,000 square feet of ground floor retail space. Located downtown at 20^th & L Street NW, the project features a host of amenities including a penthouse pool, 9^th floor rooftop terrace/sundeck, private rooftop bar, fitness center, and several lounges/work areas. The scope of the project included full demolition of the building envelope/façade and interiors down to the concrete structure, structural improvements, the addition of a 9^th floor/mezzanine/penthouse, and completely new interiors/MEP systems/façade. The project was successfully delivered in June of 2024.
