1407 W STREET, NW, WASHINGTON, DC

This new condominium building in the Greater U Street Historic District included sheeting, shoring and underpinning, dewatering, cast-in-place structure below grade, masonry and wood framed structure for three levels above grade. The elegant interiors are highlighted by attractive public spaces, upscale kitchens and spacious penthouse units. The facade consists of brick veneer, aluminum clad windows and stainless steel panels.

7 STATE CIRCLE, ANNAPOLIS, MD

This new seven story retail/office complex included a 3-level below grade parking structure, two retail levels and two levels of office space. The parking structure housed an automatic “car-park” system with a car-elevator pit that was ten feet below the water table. Steel sheet piling and underpinning were necessary to maintain the integrity of adjacent 100+ years old structures in the Historic District of the City of Annapolis.

1515 11th STREET, NW, WASHINGTON, DC

This eight unit condominium project, located in the Historic District of Shaw in Washington, DC, involved salvaging and renovating the building’s historic façade during the construction process. This cast-in-place below grade structure built with a masonry and steel framed structure for 4-1/2 levels above grade, brick façade, roof terrace and ex-filtration system was completed in September 2008.

Colonial Terrace

Colonial Terrace: Rosslyn, VA

This project consisted of a new nine-story luxury condominium with a post-tensioned, reinforced concrete structure incorporating an underground parking garage. Work also included excavation, extensive sheeting and shoring and all site utilities. Due to the topography of the existing site, the mass excavation included a 50 foot cut with internal bracing. McCullough assisted the architectural/engineering team in redesigning the retaining walls and planned to brace them with the building frame which added saleable area and saved the owner $300,000.

Executive Boulevard

Washington Science Center, North Bethesda, MD

This project was a complete renovation of a 120,000 square foot office building. The work included demolition of the building down to the structural steel frame. McCullough installed two new egress stairwells to satisfy current life-safety requirements, all new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and a new façade comprised of over 36,000 square feet of aluminum/glazed perimeter curtain wall. The base building construction features a main lobby finished with granite, stainless steel and millwork, as well as eight new ADA compliant restrooms.

13th and Pennsylvania

13th and Pennsylvania Streets: S.E. Washington, D.C.

This new building incorporated twelve two-story duplex condominiums. Each unit featured balconies/patios at the front and rear facilitating (private) outdoor activities in an urban environment. Constructed in Washington, D.C.’s historic Capitol Hill, this project was exclusively designed to complement the surrounding neighborhood by including copper flashing, extensive use of wrought iron and brick paved walks. The end result was to provide modern conveniences without spoiling the character of this renowned area

Metro Place

Metro Place Phase II: Fairfax, VA

This project was a two-story underground reinforced concrete parking facility that utilized a 35,000 square foot footprint. This parking facility served as the foundation for two four-story, wood framed condominium structures with three elevators, a single story club house and a swimming pool.

Slaters Lane

Slater’s Lane: Alexandria, VA

This underground reinforced concrete parking facility serves as a foundation for a 28-unit condominium complex. The work included excavation, sheeting and shoring, concrete foundations and custom engineered helical piers to achieve a stable foundation in less than stable soil conditions. The project also included all site work, erosion control, waterproofing and backfill.
